November My Monthly Hero - Release + Giveaway!

Hello!! It's my favorite day of the month - Hero Arts release day! Yay! November's My Monthly Hero is another fun one, perfect for making Christmas tags and other goodies for the holidays! Today I'm sharing a card I created using some of the optional add-ons introduced with this month's release.

Today's card features a super sweet new stamp set called Winter Animals. It's a bunch of animal silhouette stamps. There are several bears, which I adore - I chose this handsome fella who's out enjoying the winter evening. I watercolored a strip of watercolor paper using my Daniel Smith paints, then die cut the shape with the fantastic new Tag Frames Infinity Dies. These are so useful - I'll be reaching for them all the time!! The message from the set was embossed in white on black cardstock, then cut out in strips. Snowflakes were added in unicorn white ink - the snowflake stamp is from another new set, Holiday Badges. My good ol' Stickles made a nice snowy ground, and I finished off the card with some sequins from the Frost mix. I love that it includes little stars!

I actually made a bunch of these, don't they look fun all piled together? Don't worry, I waited for the Stickles to dry (which of course was too long for my liking). hee hee

In case you missed it, I also created a couple tags this month - they were on the Hero Arts blog yesterday. I used other new products - the Paper Layering Santa Tag, Snowflake Tag Fancy Die and the beautiful Snowflake Pattern Bold Prints - and I combined them with messages from the main kit. Be sure to check them out on the Hero Arts blog for more detail!

And here's a closer look at the main kit, so much fun!! I created a few more projects with it - you can see them over on the Hero Arts website on the November page.

And now, let's hop! Be sure to visit all of these blogs and leave comments - Hero Arts will be giving away one kit to a lucky commenter, selected from the comments left across all of the blogs in the hop. You have until Sunday, November 12 to get those comments in, and the winner will be announced at a later date on the Hero Arts blog.

Whimsy Wednesdays!

Hello! Some exciting news in my little corner of Stamp Land - I was asked to guest design for someone!! Yes, ME! Whimsy Stamps!! I was pretty darn excited, because that pretty much never happens. And the stamps are so cute, and so much fun to COLOR, so I am of course in heaven. I'm going to try to fill this month with Whimsy Wednesday posts, because I have a bunch of lovely new stamps to play with. Yay!!

For my first post, I'm working with this lovely girl from their recent October release - Hot Chocolate Honey.

So... I *love* coloring with my Copics, but I'm not one of those people who knows what the heck they're doing when it comes to coloring hair. I just wing it and hope for the best. So if you're expecting the perfection you'll see over on the Whimsy blog - well. Let's just say I tried. (I live in Georgia - here in the south you'd just say "bless your heart"...) For the sentiment, I die cut "holiday cheer" in silver glitter paper using the Holiday Word Die Set.

I had a ton of fun coloring this sweet girl and her cocoa, and cannot wait to dive into the rest of my pile! Thanks for having me, Whimsy!

Jump Start the Holidays with Hero Arts! blog hop

Hello! Today I'm joining Hero Arts for another fabulous blog hop! We're sharing ideas to help get your fall and winter holiday cardmaking off to a great start. We are also joining Lea Lawson during her month-long Crafty Comeback Party. Have you visited Lea's blog? Whoa, she is super talented!! She's been doing lots of giveaways on her blog, so you'll want to check it out! You should have made your way to the hop by way of Tracy's blog. If you didn't, head back to the Hero Arts blog to start at the beginning!

For my card today, I played with one of my favorite stamp sets from the October monthly release. It's called Irreverent Elf Messages and it pretty much just cracks me up! I love the little elf emojis. And the sentiments are way too funny! I stamped the elves randomly on Snow layering paper, then colored with my Copics. For a little bit of something extra, I added white Nuvo drops to their hat brims and pompoms.

Now it's time to hop! Hero Arts will be giving away a $25 gift certificate, randomly chosen from all of the comments left at every stop along the blog hop. To enter, leave a comment on any of the blogs by Friday, November 10 at 11:59pst, and the winner will be announced on Lea Lawson's blog the on Sunday, November 12.

October My Monthly Hero - Release + Giveaway!

Note: I feel very weird about a happy release blog post on a day like today. But this was all planned weeks ago. My heart goes out to everyone impacted in Las Vegas, and my heart breaks for our nation as a whole.

*********************************************************************************

Today is launch day at Hero Arts! The October My Monthly Hero kit and add-ons are so much fun - they'll take you on an inky trip to the North Pole! I designed the projects for the landing page and slider over on the Hero Arts website, so I thought I'd share a closer look at them in my post today.

For this first card, I used the adorable little dog sled image and matching die from the kit. I also LOVE the background dies included in the kit for building scenes - a mountain range, a line of trees, and also a town (which I didn't use, yet!).

I did my coloring with Copic markers, and also added a little texture/interest to the background die cuts by blotting with some Copic Various Ink using a rag. The snowdrifts are easy to cut by hand.

There's a ton of cute little images in this large 6 x 8" stamp set, but one of my absolute favorites is this little gingerbread house that I used on the next card. Isn't it the cutest?

I stamped the house repeatedly on the background panel, and colored with my Copics. I didn't line them up perfectly, but I never care much about being perfect. But they are relatively easy to line up like this, using the slant of the roof to create a visual line as you're stamping. If that makes sense! I added some white dots with a gel pen. There's also a bit of glossy accents on the heart of the main die cut image, but it doesn't show in the photo.

For my final card, I combined more of the images with the Nesting Postage Stamps Infinity Dies. The red and white baker's twine from my stash goes well with the cute Christmas images.

It's a little difficult to see in the photos, but I stamped a bunch of the tiny snowflakes in the background using white Unicorn pigment ink.

These projects used only the stamps from the main kit, none of the fabulous add-ons, but I'll link all of the new products below. Here's a closer look at the entire kit:

And now, let's hop!
